Apparently there was a little fracas over at Activision this week, something Sony was probably very happy about as it stopped people talking about the dreaded Leap Year bug. Other things also happed this week, although no one really notices, but people like to play the 360 online, Take Two are delaying a few titles and the Eurogamer event grows.

Unfortunately this week there will not be a show available. The audio file is no good, and I can’t salvage it enough to put out a quality show. It sucks too because we did record a great show. However, we will return next week so stay tuned!

The first time I picked up a video game controller 25 years ago, I knew for sure then that I loved what I was getting at. I played endless hours of Kangaroo on that 5200 with one of the most awkward controllers built to date. The well expected joystick and the bright orange buttons led me to punching mischievous monkeys in the face, eating white pellets while running from ghosts and jumping on colored blocks running from springing snakes for hours at a time. I never did figure out what that numbered key pad was for.

Oh it was good times to be had of course. I’d watch my father play for hours as well, progressing levels in Space Dungeon and Qix. The Atari 5200 was the beginning of my gaming career, if you will. However, I also remember the frustration my father had with that controller. Before we would sit down to play each night, he would take that controller apart, grab your normal old No. 2 pencil and scrub at the inside of that controller with the eraser. I remember the eraser “shavings” that would be left on my maroon carpet while he worked furiously at it. After completely cleaning the controllers both completely, he would reassemble them and the hours of play would begin. And it wouldn’t be any surprise if he had to stop mid play to take them apart and do it again.

Sony are making a big deal of “The Tester” a reality TV show aired on the PSN network (if you are in the US, or at least have a US account for your PS3). The show features a load of hopefuls who, in true reality TV fashion, live together and go through a series of challenges each episode and face elimination until only one remains, who gets the “coveted” role as the new tester for Sony.
